ASD PLC Training Guide!
The Division of Specialized Instruction and Student Support (DSISS) is partnering with RethinkEd to provide you with the opportunity to participate in an intensive training module that will support your instruction for supporting students classified with autism. You have been selected to participate because you support students with a classification of Autism Spectrum Disorders who could benefit from intensive behavior support. Throughout the year-long training series, you will be part of an educational community that will receive ongoing support from the RethinkEd team. You will have access to asynchronous Principles of Applied Behavior Analysis and Proactive Behavior Support modules, participate in synchronous professional learning communities, and receive on-going coaching. You will also be able to obtain CTLE hours by participating in the program.
PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Participants will be required to spend 5 hours per month as outlined below
- Participants attend 2 synchronous monthly PLC’s during the school day for 1.5 each
- Participants attend 2 synchronous monthly coaching sessions for 1 hour each
- Participants will access Rethink Skills and Behavior Platform for Behavioral Resources to Support Classroom and Students
- Participants will complete 40 hours of asynchronous ABA professional development modules
- Site Based Designated Administrators will attend quarterly synchronous Check-Ins
PROPOSED OUTCOMES AND BENEFITS OF THIS MODEL:
- Educators will learn principles of Applied Behavior Analysis and evidence-based strategies to provide direct support to children classified with an Autism Spectrum Disorder.
- Educators will learn classroom management strategies to create positive conditions for learning to result in staff and students being fully supported, empowered, and feeling safe.
- Using the principles of UDL and SDL educators will learn to use effective behavior and skill-building strategies to increase access to learning.
- Educators will have an understanding of key components for creating a learning environment that promotes positive behaviors
