Introducing RethinkEd’s Mental Wellness Toolkit

To help support the mental wellbeing of educators, staff, students and families, we are sharing a curated collection of strategies and resources from our Mental Wellness Solution.  

 

Developed by clinical and educational experts, Rethink’s Mental Wellness Solution draws from evidence-based best practices aimed at supporting the whole school community to better understand mental health and access strategies that promote well-being. What is Mental Wellness

Mental wellness is about taking care of our emotional health and feeling balanced, connected, and able to meet life’s challenges.

There are many factors that influence our mental wellness, including:

  • Genes
  • Emotional make-up
  • Relationships
  • Physical health

Helping to identify and support our students’ mental wellness is the shared responsibility of all adults on campus.

 Strategies for Mental Wellness 
 
Mental wellness looks different for everyone, and the strategies people use to maintain their mental wellness will look different for everyone.  Some strategies you can use to maintain your mental wellness are:
  • Naming the emotion.
  • Thinking of a problem as a challenge.
  • Talking with a friend.
  • Taking a walk.
  • Getting more sleep.
  • Doing something you enjoy. 
  • Asking for help if you need it. 
 

Factors of Mental Wellness

Emotional

  • Ability to identify and process emotions
  • Responses to emotions
  • Self-image and self-esteem
  • Ability to manage stress

Social

  • Sense of belonging, purpose, and acceptance
  • Personal and social identities
  • Family relationships and friendships
  • Social and institutional structures

Physical

  • Ability to meet basic survival needs
  • Sense of safety and comfort
  • Energy levels
  • Physical health
